JSASS AWARDS

To encourage development of the aerospace engineering and the aerospace industry, JSASS best paper award, technology award, and young researcher award were established in 1991. The award recipients are selected through careful review and the JSASS awards are presented at the Annual General Meeting.

Purpose To encourage the aerospace engineering and the aerospace industry
Eligibility for nomination Nominees must be members or student members of JSASS. However, non-members can be included, if a group is nominated and its leader is a member or a student member. Those papers which have been considered when the nominee received Young Researcher Award in the past are excluded from this award.
Eligible papers Papers must have appeared in one of (1) Journal of the Japan Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences (in Japanese), (2) Transactions of the Japan Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences, (3) Japanese Online Journal “Koku-uchu Gijutsu”, (4) English Online Journal “Aerospace Technology Japan” between April 2016 and March 2019. Self-nominations are accepted.
Recognition The award will be presented at the JSASS Annual General Meeting to be held in April 2020 and an extra prize will be given to the recipients.
Number of recipients Up to two

– Technology Award
Nomination Guidelines for the Technology Award of 2019

Purpose To encourage the aerospace engineering and the aerospace industry
Eligibility for nomination Nominees must be members or student members of JSASS. However, non-members can be included, if a group is nominated and its leader is a member or a student member.
Eligible technologies There are two categories: (1) Basic Technology Category and (2) Project Category. (1) Technologies to be nominated for the Basic Technology Category must be new technologies which were invented for some years past and contributed to development of epoch-making new products, improvement of quality or performance of products, or improvement of manufacturing technique. (2) Projects to be nominated for the Project Category must be projects which opened new frontiers in development of aerospace engineering and sciences by new technologies invented for some years past, such as a big scale R&D program which requires flight demonstration, and achievement of a mission which requires difficult space flight, and so on.
Recognition The award will be presented at the JSASS Annual General Meeting to be held in April 2020 and an extra prize will be given to the recipients.
Number of recipients Up to two recipients for each category

– Young Researcher Award
Nomination Guidelines for the Young Researcher Award of 2019

Purpose To cultivate young excellent members widely for development of the aerospace engineering and the aerospace industry
Eligibility for nomination Nominees must be JSASS members or student members who are under 35 years old (as of 1 April 2019). Those who have already received the JSASS Awards and those who will receive the JSASS Paper Award or Technology Award are excluded.
Eligible papers 1. Papers
Papers must have appeared in one of (1) Journal of the Japan Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences (in Japanese), (2) Transactions of the Japan Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences, (3) Japanese Online Journal “Koku-uchu Gijutsu”, (4) English Online Journal “Aerospace Technology Japan” between April 2016 and March 2019. Self-nominations are accepted.
