Toshinori Watanabe, Professor of the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the University of Tokyo, received Ph.D. in Aeronautics from University of Tokyo in 1987. From 1987 to 1993, he worked at the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology as Lecturer and Associate Professor. In the meantime, he studied in Aachen Technical University in Germany from 1991 to 1992. From 1993, he has been working at the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the University of Tokyo. His research interest covers jet propulsion, gas turbines, internal aero-thermo dynamics, aeroelasticity, and aeroacoustics. He has been acting as the Editor-in-chief of the Journal of the Japan Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences, International Journal of Gas Turbine, Propulsion and Power Systems, and so on. He has been also acting as Board member of the Gas Turbine Society of Japan, and held the International Gas Turbine Congress 2015 Tokyo as the Executive Committee Chair.
